Ashish's experience encompasses protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) involving trademarks, copyrights and geographical indication for both Indian and foreign clients. He counsels and develops enforcement strategies in cases of anti-counterfeiting, criminal enforcements, border protection (customs), infringement, passing off and domain name disputes.
His area of practice also includes prosecution of trademarks, copyright, geographical indications and IPR due diligence.
Ashish also assists the Government of India in the protection of certain well-known Indian teas such as the Darjeeling Tea as geographical indications.
He frequently appears before the District and High Courts across India as well as the Supreme Court of India, Custom Authorities, the Intellectual Property Appellate Board and Trade Marks Office.
He is a regular speaker at various national and international fora on issues relating to protection and enforcement of trademarks and geographical indications. He actively participates in Intellectual Property Rights training programs for the police, customs and judiciary. He is currently serving as a member of the Internet Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA) for the 2020-2021 term.
